Ten years ago this weekend, on a cool September morning the United States of America was viciously attacked by terrorist forces. Nearly 3000 people lost their lives that day in New York City, Washington DC, and Shanksville, PA. Four jumbo jets were hijacked, and used as human guided weapons. Two planes crashed into the Twin Towers in NYC, one crashed into the Pentagon in DC, and one plane that was suspected to be heading to the White House crashed into a field in PA. The passengers aboard that plane feared the worst, and sprung into action. They overtook the hijackers, and forced the plane into the field, killing all aboard. They knew the consequences of their actions, and knew the loss of life would be much greater if they didn't act. They gave their lives so that other may live. So did the first responders responding to the towers in NYC, they rushed in as other rushed out. Many died that day, many others have died or have become ill from working near Ground Zero in the months following the attacks.
On this tenth anniversary of the attacks, take a moment of your time to remember those who were lost and their families. Remember the service men and women who have given their lives to bring those responsible to justice, and to protect our freedom. Keep in your hearts and prayers all the service personnel still out their defending our freedom.
Never Forget 9/11/01.
